Why Jollof and Jerk

Our story is rooted in flavour and family. Jollof rice, the heart of West African celebrations, meets Jamaican jerk — smoky, fiery, and full of soul. Together, they tell the story of two cultures sharing one plate, one rhythm, and one passion for bold, beautiful food.

Our Story

Two homes, one kitchen

Our story is woven around the bold flavours of our Nigerian fathers' cuisine plus the soulful English and Caribbean dishes of our mothers which we have proudly embraced.

Nigeria England roots

Family gatherings, church parties, and community cookouts taught us that food is memory.

Pop-ups across Medway 2000s

From small stalls to sold-out trays — jollof pans and jerk drums became our soundtrack.

Uncle Paul carving roast chicken in the kitchen

Paul

Famous for his rich, hearty Egusi Soup — a Nigerian classic — Paul brings the essence of home to every bowl. His love of cooking began in Benin City, Nigeria, where his Jamaican mother introduced the family to both Caribbean dishes and the spice of Nigerian kitchens. One day, at a gathering of Jamaican wives in Nigeria, he tasted jerk chicken for the very first time. That smoky, fiery flavor hooked him for life. From that moment, Paul set out on a journey to master the grill, recreating the taste of jerk chicken. Over the past 30 years, he has perfected the art of bringing people together around food, entertaining guests and clients with dishes that tell the story of his blended heritage.
